Description
What is Cialis?
How to take Cialis
- Take one tablet of Cialis at least 30 minutes before engaging in sexual activity. The effects of the medication can last for up to 36 hours. Never take more than one tablet within a 36-hour period. Alcohol consumption will limit the effectiveness of Cialis. Do not combine Cialis with other erectile dysfunction medications.
How does Cialis work
- Cialis’ active ingredient (tadalafil) increases blood flow to the organ. It enables a firmer, longer-lasting if you are act aroused.
- The treatment will not resolve the underlying physical cause of your ED or increase your sexual desire.
What are the negative side effects of Cialis?
- Although uncommon, Cialis side effects include headaches, indigestion, palpitations (racing heartbeat), light headedness, facial flushing, nasal congestion and muscle aches. These should dissipate a few hours after taking the medication.
- For full information on side effects and correct use, see the patient information leaflet.
When to take Cialis for best results
- Cialis has an 80% success rate in treating ED. You may find that Cialis is less effective if you have had more than 1 or 2 alcoholic drinks, but food does not play a role in how well it works.
- We suggest that you try an ED treatment 8 times before abandoning it, increasing the dose, or finding a different remedy.
What is the best dosage for Cialis?
- The standard dose is 10mg, but this may vary depending on your age, height and weight, the cause and the severity of your ED. Dosage does not affect how quickly or for how long the treatment works.
- With higher doses come more chances of developing side effects.
What should you not take with Cialis?
- Cialis is not for you if you’re taking alpha-blockers (like doxazosin or tamsulosin), nicorandil, or nitrates (such as GTN spray or Isosorbide mononitrate tablets) to treat angina.
- In order for us to prescribe Cialis safely, it is important that you let us know of any prescription or over-the-counter medicines as well as recreational drugs that you are currently taking.
Alternative treatments
- Some men find it beneficial to explore and treat psychological causes for ED through counselling.
- Give us a call via your Patient Record if Cialis doesn’t work for you. We would be happy to explore other ED treatment options with you.
